Dealing with Deprecations #

To identify deprecated features in your FLAT configuration you can set the default log level to at least deprecation via the $FLAT_DEBUG environment variable, for example in your compose.yaml:

services:
  flat:
    environment:
      - FLAT_DEBUG=*:deprecation:log
    …

Deprecations will then be shown as warnings in the debug log. Unless you set the log level to verbose, each deprecation warning is only logged once per request to prevent log clutter.

On a development or test system it may be an option to make requests fail automatically whenever a deprecated feature is used. This forces you to address deprecations immediately and can be enabled via the environment variable $FLAT_STRICT_DEPRECATIONS:

services:
  flat:
    environment:
      - FLAT_STRICT_DEPRECATIONS=true
    …

⚠️ You should not enable strict deprecations via $FLAT_STRICT_DEPRECATIONS on a production system.
